Wades Barn
Wades Barn was built in the 1600s and is a rare survivor. It is a symbol of Helmingham’s rich history as a working estate and was named for the Wade family who lived here as farming tenants. Today, it is the gateway to Guildenacre and welcomes visitors instead of acting as a working barn, but it still sits in the middle of a working estate shaped by farming and woodland management.
A Welcoming Rest Stop
The barn serves the local community and walkers who use the nearby footpaths, providing an indoor seating area and shelter from the natural elements throughout the year. Within the courtyard itself, you will find toilets, a shop and a kitchen café serving tea, coffee and a selection of locally sourced food, supplied by the Black Dog Deli.
